FTP Unud Holds Guest Lecture with UTM, Highlighting Nutragenomics of Southeast Asian Honey
Jimbaran, Bali – To commemorate the 41st Anniversary of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP), the 31st Anniversary of the Study Program Consortium (BK), and the 63rd Dies Natalis of Udayana University, FTP Unud organized an international Guest Lecture featuring an expert from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), attended by lecturers and students.
The event was held on 17 September 2025 at the Udayana University Library Building, featuring Prof. Dr. Fahrul Zaman bin Huyop from the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Sciences, UTM. He delivered a lecture entitled: “Integrated Approaches in Nutragenomics of Southeast Asian Honey for Functional Food Development.”
This topic is considered highly relevant to the advancement of modern food science, particularly in utilizing Southeast Asian honey as a functional food ingredient through nutragenomic approaches. Prof. Fahrul elaborated on how multidisciplinary research can open new opportunities in developing healthier food products with high added value.
On behalf of the Dean of FTP Unud, Dr. I Wayan Arnata, Coordinator of the Agroindustrial Technology Study Program, emphasized that this Guest Lecture was not only part of the Dies Natalis celebration but also a concrete step to broaden the insights of students and lecturers in biotechnology and foster international research collaborations.
“This event strengthens the academic network between FTP Unud and UTM while also inspiring the younger generation to continuously innovate in the development of functional foods,” he stated.
The participants’ enthusiasm was reflected in the interactive discussion session, which explored collaborative research opportunities and the practical applications of honey in the healthy food industry. Through this event, FTP Unud reaffirmed its role as a center for education and research that adapts to global developments while strengthening international partnerships with universities across Southeast Asia.
