FTP Udayana University Collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to hold a FGD on Food Waste Management in the Tourism Industry
The Faculty of
Agricultural Technology, Udayana University in collaboration with the Ministry
of Tourism and Creative Economy / the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency of
the Republic of Indonesia held a Focus Group Discussion on Food Waste
Management in the Tourism Industry. The activity was held at the Patra Jasa
Hotel on Thursday, July 7th, 2022 and was held in a hybrid manner
through Zoom Meeting which was attended by the Hotel and Restaurant Industry,
Tourism Industry Association, Head of Service, Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs
Association and related stakeholders as many as 200 people and also attended by
the Dean of the Faculty. Agricultural Technology Prof. Ir. I Made Anom Sutrisna
Wijaya, M.App.Sc., Ph.D., and Deputy Dean III of FTP Unud who is also the Chair
of the Association of Indonesian Food Technology Experts (PATPI) Bali, Mrs. Dr.
Ir. Komang Ayu Nocianitri, M.Agr.Sc.
On this occasion, the
Lecturer of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Mr. Ir. Ida Bagus Wayan
Gunam, M.P., Ph.D. appointed as resource person with the topic "Issues on
Food Waste in Hospitality Industry" side by side with Mr. Frans Teguh
Expert Staff for Sustainable Development and Conservation and Mr. Agung Saputra
CEO & Founder of Surplus Indonesia moderated by Lecturer of the Faculty of
Agricultural Technology Mr. Ir. Anak Agung Putu Agung Suryawan Wiranatha, M.Sc.,
Ph.D. The keynote speeches at this activity were Mr. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno,
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia and Mr.
Henky Hotma Parlindungan Manurung, Deputy of Industry and Investment of the
Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency of
the Republic of Indonesia.
This activity is carried
out in the context of preventing and reducing food waste generated by the
tourism industry, so it is deemed necessary to coordinate between stakeholders
to discuss the causes and proposed solutions to these problems. Mr. Ir. Anak
Agung Putu Agung Suryawan Wiranatha, M.Sc., Ph.D. as the moderator also said
that this activity can be an illustration and understanding of stakeholders and
agencies related to food waste in the tourism industry so that all stakeholders
can obtain information related to procedures for handling food waste in the
tourism industry and its application. It is also hoped that through this Focus
group discussion activity can find a solution to the problem of food waste in
the tourism industry because as is well known one of the G20 issues to address
climate change is to actually reduce the rate of food waste in the tourism
world which is one of the goals in the SDGs, especially the SDGs. 12.3., he
said.
