Consistently Carrying Out Community Service, FTP Unud Academic Community Carries Out Student Social Scientific Service: Turning Cassava and Its By-products into More Valuable Products

Bakti Ilmiah Sosial Mahasiswa Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian, abbreviated as BISMA FTP, is a work program of the Community Service Department of the Student Executive Board at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology. This activity is a community service activity carried out by the entire academic community at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, especially for the youngest students at FTP.

BISMA FTP 2025 was held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Village Office of Penatahan Village, Penebel Sub-District, Tabanan Regency, Bali. The BISMA FTP 2025 event focused on empowering the village community through the utilization of cassava plants and their byproducts, packaged in the form of service proposals related to the potential and issues present in the village where the activity was conducted, as well as products derived from cassava plants or their byproducts, which will be presented during the BISMA FTP 2025 event.

During the BISMA FTP 2025 activity, three groups developed proposals and products and presented them to the village community, particularly to the Women Farmers' Groups (KWT) in Penatahan Village. Group 1, with the theme of Food, developed the idea of Utilizing Cassava as the Main Ingredient for Gluten-Free Brownies in Empowering the Community of Penatahan Village. Group 2, with the theme of Non-Food, developed the idea of Designing Packaging Labels for Cassava Tape from Penatahan Village in Eco-Friendly Bamboo Baskets. while Group 3, with the topic of Waste Processing, developed an innovation for bio-briquettes from cassava peel waste.

Made Dwi Bagas Nugraha, as the head of the Activity Committee, reported that three groups from each topic will provide training to the community in Penatahan Village, Penebel Subdistrict, Tabanan Regency, to create and present products designed in accordance with the community service proposal submitted. He also expressed hope that the innovations and ideas developed would provide input and solutions for the community of Penatahan Village to enhance the existing potential of Penatahan Village, Penebel Sub-district, Tabanan Regency, he said.
