Implementation of Cooperation between the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, UNUD and BITHUB Bali: Training on Processing of Waste Cooking Oil Has Been Taking place in 10 Banjars in Regencies/Cities throughout Bali
Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology,
Udayana University Prof. Ir. I Made Anom Sutrisna Wijaya, M.App., Ph.D has
signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Bali Initiative Hub (BITHUB)
represented by the CEO of BITHUB, namely Mr. Ida Bagus Agung Gunarthawa, S.H.
BITHUB is a central association of Bali initiatives that is engaged in the
development of the economic commodity ecosystem by promoting creative
industries that can coexist mutually with the tourism industry.
One of the activities designed by BITHUB in
collaboration with ICCN (Indonesia Creative Cities Network) is the Banjar
Creative Space (BCS) program. The BCS program is one of the efforts to recover
the economy during the Covid-19 pandemic in Bali. This activity is expected to
increase the creativity of Bali's young generation so that they are competent
to accelerate economic recovery in Bali. The BCS program is fully supported by
the Ministry of SOEs and is financed by Pertamina's Social and Environmental
Responsibility (TJSL) program. This activity aims to develop community empowerment
programs in the fields of economy, environment, education and health.
In this case, BITHUB cooperates with the
lecturer of the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program at UNUD,
namely Dr. Dewa Ayu Anom Yuarini, S.TP., M.Agb. and Dr. Ir. Luh Putu Wrasiati,
M.P in training and mentoring the use of household waste, namely used cooking
oil. At the initial stage, education was carried out on how to use cooking oil
correctly by not mixing used cooking oil and using cooking oil more than three
times.
The next stage, the used cooking oil is
purified with ingredients that are around the community such as using charcoal,
banana peels and bagasse. After filtering and obtaining clear oil, the oil is
used as raw material for aromatherapy candles and solid soap. It is hoped that
with this guidance and assistance, the community will not throw used cooking
oil carelessly and be able to process it into useful products.
This training and coaching was attended by PKK
women and members of the sekeha teruna in 10 banjars from all over Bali, namely
Banjar Taman Kelod - Gianyar, Banjar Tengah Renon - Denpasar, Banjar Kelod Kauh
Panji - Buleleng, Banjar Ubung Jimbaran - Badung, Banjar Yeh Buah - Jembrana,
Banjar Bilukpoh Kangin-Jembrana, Banjar Pekandelan-Klungkung, Banjar Geriana
Kauh-Karangasem, Banjar Pule Kawan-Bangli, Banjar Baturiti Kerambitan-Tabanan.
This activity is expected to be able to change people's behavior in terms of using cooking oil wisely and being able to purify used cooking oil as a raw material for non-food products, namely aromatherapy candles and solid soap at the household level. This activity is expected to trigger the community to care about the environment and be able to process their own waste.
